Ashir Chep Nomi held annually in mid-September at the Toyohira River flats is a traditional event with a 53-year history. In the Ainu language, it means "new salmon," and it is an important ceremony to express gratitude to the salmon.
At the venue, traditional Ainu food tastings are also held, and many people gather. It is recommended to access by public transportation, walking from Nakajima Koen Subway Station (中島公園駅).
